Pileated Woodpecker
Seen less frequently than more common species
larger than the others


Mockingbird
Just listen to one singing away... a great imitator!

Little Blue Heron - (on a wire)
Neat to see this larger bird balanced on a power line.

Egyptian Geese
Showed them last month but, here they are "trying" to
take over an osprey nest... not acceptable to the Osprey!

Moorhen (with chick)
Common in Ballantrae ponds...
fun to see them hatch a brood (usually 2 or 3).

July was a more sparse month for birding...
No new species arriving but I spent some time photographing
nesting and hatching birds. Still lot's of interesting creatures in Ballantrae.
Get your cameras and binoculars out and
see our beautiful birds and other species.
