Cardinal
So beautiful and... very vocal!
Glad to see and hear them back in Ballantrae

Boat-tailed Grackle
An overlooked bird but...
look at those colors... Beautiful!

Limpkin
Several around the pond edges, bobbing for shellfish mainly

Red-bellied Woodpeckers
This is a pair I am photographing as they build
their nest and hopefully hatch a brood.

Moorhen
Common in Ballantrae ponds...
The babies are bald and fuzzy

May was interesting for birding...
We had some neat migratory Warblers and others... they came briefly and now are gone.
Our summer species are arriving and some nesting birds are appearing.
Get your cameras and binoculars out and
see our beautiful birds. Send us some of your photos, or call in your sightings.
